Grant Description

Grant to a Wisconsin tribal entity to address juvenile justice concerns and prevent delinquency among local children and youth. Applicants must complete the required registrations prior to applying. Funding is intended for new and established programs that reflect the needs of the applicant community and benefit Native American and Alaska Native youth, ages 10-16 years old.

Programs should reflect the needs of the applicant community and could include mentoring programs, community-based alternatives to detention, mental health and substance abuse services, family-strengthening support and therapy, afterschool programs that provide educational, recreational, or employment activities, and others.

Funding may be/must be used for Personnel, Employee Benefits, Travel/Training, Supplies and Operating Expenses, and Consultants/Contractual.

Applicants are also encouraged to incorporate the following focus areas into their programs:

Provide gender specific services, including those who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT).
Provide alternatives to detention for status offenders, survivors of commercial sexual exploitation, and others, where appropriate, such as home-based or community-based services or treatment for those youth in need of mental health, substance abuse, or co-occurring disorder services at the time such juveniles first come into contact with the juvenile justice system.
Strengthen the families of delinquent and other youth to prevent juvenile delinquency. This includes involving relatives and extended family members when appropriate and providing family counseling during incarceration of juvenile family members and coordination of family services when appropriate and feasible.

All federally recognized Wisconsin tribes, tribal governments, or tribal agencies are eligible to apply.

Ineligible:

All expenses must be new and cannot replace existing state or local government funding.

Pre-Application Information:

Applications must be submitted through Egrants on or before January 27, 2023 11:59 p.m.
